In May 2023 a team of Chinese researchers found a record Cupressus austrotibetica with a height of 102.3 m.

It is well inside the Cupressus austrotibetica distribution range and close to several collections available in various herbaria.

This is the tallest recorded tree in Eurasia.
The previous record was a Cupressus tortulosa from eastern Bhutan which was measured to 91 m.
